Spring is in the air!

Yes, I caught the Spring bug. Over the weekend I watched the Food Network Channel and came across a great tip for creating salads. The tips is to add 5 or more colors to your salad. This will challenge you to try other vegetables and or fruits in your salad.
I decided to start of with some spinach leaves and to that I put a salad mixed of carrots, snap peas, one cucumber and romaine lettuce. Next, I put in some small cherry tomatoes. To that I sliced one red onion. I added two tablespoons of cranberries, a tablespoon of diced almonds, and one mandarin orange. Are you getting a visual picture? For additional protein I added two strings of crab meat. For dressing, I added some low fat raspberry vinigarette. Talking about delicious. I stored the extras in a ziploc bag for dinner.
Bon Apetite!

Low Iron

Wow,

So, first excuse me for not blogging lately. I have been rather tired. Today, I was told by the doctor to increase my iron immediately. So, I have decided to take a slow release iron tablet and will try to find out what Melealeuca product coincides with iron increase.

Breakfast Foods

Good Afternoon,
I thought I would talk about some of the changes I have made that are making my blood sugar levels much lower. First of all, I do monitor what I eat. In the morning, I find foods such as boiled eggs and toast a good combination. I also eat peanut butter and jelly on a bagel, with coffee. I enjoy turkey bacon, 1 egg, on an english muffin, with coffee. I don't tend to eat fruity yogurts in the morning, they make my level too high.
I especially love drinking the smoothies by the company NAKED, They have fruit smoothies with no sugar added. Melaleuca has the Active Immune Drink. It tastes like Tang and its delicious. I will have that with some of the Simply Fit crackers by Melaleuca too.
I also will eat some cheese cubes, grapes, and a couple of unsalted crackers.
When I go to a restaurant, I will order what I want, but only eat half the portion and take the rest home. I like going to IHop. I will order the spinach egg w/cheese and order a side of wheat toast. I won't get homefries. I will get coffee and ask them to add light whipcream for something sweet.
The truth to lowering your blood sugar is to eat smaller portions of starches. I find that if I eat some type of protein I am more satisfied.

Vitamins

I have been really horrible at taking any kind of medicine, especially vitamins. I guess its because I just can't keep them down and or I hate the taste of them. Regardless, I was told I need to take them because this would help me with my diabetes.

In the past I have tried One a Day Vitamins for Women and Centrum. Both of these were so big and hard for me to digest. I decided to use Vitality by Melaleuca. So far, they are smaller in size and I don't taste them after I swallow.

I have been using the product for a week now. I did skip Saturday and can honestly say I felt a lack of energy and didn't know why until today. I will keep using it and give you a more accurate testimony by next month. Just the fact that these vitamins break down differently in your system made me want to give them a try. The price is good too. I am getting the multi-vitamin and the calcium tablets for $19.99.

Healing in a Bottle

Renew has been one of my most favorite products to date. It goes on smooth and really leaves your hands feeling soft. My two younger children have excema. Since they have been using the product, the dryness and scaly skin is gone. My 82 year old mom says her dry hands are totally gone.
If you or someone you know is suffering from excema, this product works!

How It All Began!

In November of 2011, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. My entire world was turned upside down. I had to visit many doctors. The most difficult time for me was learning how to eat. I started out with a blood sugar level of 300 and now I am regulated and have levels between 90 and 120.

I thought I was pretty healthy. But to my surprise, I was far off from being healthy. From Nov to Jan, I lost 26lbs. I am now 1 clothing size smaller and I weigh 200lbs. Ok, I am a size 14 now.

During this time, I also found out that I am anemic and I need to consider vitamins. I was also told to increase my exercise. The combination of these things would help me feel better and keep my blood sugar low.

In November, a co-worker talked to me about coming to a presentation on wellness. I was hesitant at first. I attended the presentation and learned about new products that were not only healthy, but they were safe and chemical free.

I decided to become a customer of "Melaleuca". Funny name, right! Well, it means tea tree oil. This blog will tell about some of the things I eat to control my blood sugar, it will document some of the foods that I found I can no longer eat alot of, I will share the products I am currently using, and provide you with tons of information telling the multiple uses of the Melaleuca Products.
